Members of Parliament from Central Kenya have welcomed the move by the commissioners of troubled Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to voluntary resign to pave way for the hiring of other officials who will oversee the 2017 General Election.
The MPs – Ferdinand Waititu (Kabete), Jude Jomo (Kiambu Central) and Njoroge Baiya (Githunguri) – thanked Isaac Hassan and his team, saying their selfless move will not be forgotten.
However, they warned that the replacement of commissioners should not be done by political parties as demanded by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s CORD.
At the same time, the Mt. Kenya MPs exuded confidence that President Uhuru Kenyatta will still beat Raila Odinga in 2017 because as Jubilee, they do not need IEBC to win elections.
They vowed to continue poaching Raila’s supporters to Jubilee to ensure Uhuru wins by a big margin to avoid a runoff.
“The issue of who will supervise the election or who will count the votes since the electoral body is just a mere referee while the final say lies with the voter,” said Jomo.
“All am asking Jubilee supporters to do is to prepare to vote Uhuru and Ruto back to State House since we have the votes” he added
