Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua yesterday denied before the High Court claims by Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria that she procured false witnesses to fix Deputy President William Ruto before the International Criminal Court (ICC).
She also denied meeting any ICC officials who came to Kenya to investigate the 2007/08 post-election violence. Karua was testifying in a case she has sued Kuria for defamation over remarks he made at a political rally linking her to witness soliciting to fix the Deputy President at the ICC.
Kuria had sensationally claimed during a prayer rally in Mt Elgon in 2015 that he and other PNU leaders fabricated evidence against Ruto in the aftermath of the violence following the disputed 2007 presidential election results.
“Despite demanding apology from the legislator, he continued making the same malicious statements against me which were widely published locally and internationally,” Karua said through her lawyer Gitobu Imanyara before Justice Joseph Sergon. She said the statements have damaged her reputation globally. The case will be mentioned on September 29.
