All primary schools will be connected with electricity before the end of this month. Energy Cabinet secretary Charles Keter has said.
He said his ministry has adequate funds to ensure the project is completed in the stipulated time, adding that it is in line with the Jubilee government’s agenda of ensuring all learning institutions are connected to the grid.
The digital literacy programme continues to be launched across the country. He made the remarks even as he affirmed that nothing will stop him from visiting Bomet and other regions in the South Rift region and comment on politics.
The CS has lately been accused of endorsing some individuals for the governorship seats in Bomet and Kericho counties.
“This is my home and so no one should try to intimidate me to stop my frequent visits to the region,” said Keter.
The CS has since received the list of schools in some parts of the country that were yet to be connected adding that all homesteads within the proximity of the schools will benefit under the Last Mile Connectivity project.
Keter spoke at Tirgaga secondary school in Bomet Central at the weekend when he presided over a funds drive in aid of the institution.
He was accompanied by area MP Ronald Tonui and Kuresoi North MP Moses Cheboi.
Tonui said they were reaching out to Jubilee rebels to come back to Jubilee Party and their meetings with such politicians should not be misconstrued to mean they are planning to ditch the party but rather to unite them.
