Two pupils of Kanyorosha primary school in Kangemi were swept by raging floods in a stream on Thursday morning.

Officials say one body has been recovered while efforts to get the second one are ongoing. The children are said to have tried to cross the stream when they were swept by the water.

In Murang'a town, a 55 old man died on Wednesday night after a perimeter wall collapsed and several vehicles damaged after a wall collapsed after heavy rains in the region.

Peter Kabugi was in his house on Wednesday night when the wall caved in following a heavy downpour.
Confirming the incident, Murang’a County Police Commander Naomi Ichami said by the time he was recovered, Kabugi had passed away.

National Disaster Management Unit (NDMU) communication officer Pius Masai wants members of the public to report any broken or cracked walls to avoid disasters.

"Report to relevant authorities within the Counties and ministries any walls or building that appears or suspected dangerous to the public by being unstable, cracks, build on riparian land, public utility, play grounds among others to avoid the repetition of such accidents," Masai said in astatement.

This is the second wall to collapse after heavy rains this year, the first being at Ulinzi Headquarters and four people were killed when the DoD perimeter wall collapsed as they sheltered from heavy rain along Lenana Road in Nairobi in April.

In 2015, South "B " wall collapsed causing death and injuries.
